3 Right Decisions, Right Now Presentation at Clifton Middle School (Covington)
Kathy Putnam (Alleghany Health Department), Jennifer Unroe (4-H Youth Development), Hannah, and Principal Brenda Siple.  Hannah spoke to nearly 700 students on creating healthy choices, including the importance of not smoking.
3 "Generation Fit" Kickoff - Alleghany High School (Covington)
 
The Alleghany County Health Department, Alleghany County Public School, and 4-H Youth Development collectively sponsor a program called "Generation Fit", a health and fitness support group for girls.  Hannah was asked to kick off the year at both Covington and Alleghany High Schools. Hannah and Rozetta Mowery, who lived at the Holston Home for Children as a child.  She has authored, Tragedy in Tin Can Holler.  Check out her website at http://www.tragedyintincanholler.com/index.html.  Hannah was asked to speak on the importance of focussing on the lives of children who are less fortunate at the fundraiser for the orphanage.

27 New Market Heritage Day (New Market)

Vacant for 30 years and constructed in the early 1800s, Hannah was the Guest of Honor at the grand opening of 'The Opera House at New Market.' 
 

Hannah with her hostess for the festival, Dr. Betty Karol Wilson, music historian, former college professor and owner of the Apple Blossom Inn.


Prior to the parade, Hannah was asked by New Market Vice Mayor John H. Blosser to sign a cowboy hat which also featured signatures from former Miss Virginias Joan Grady and Susan Parker.
 

The 'Congress Street Publik House' (spelled with a 'k') was built in 1765 by a cousin of Abraham Lincoln and is haunted!  Here, Hannah is tempted by Executive Chef Neil T. Beaver.

3 CMN Black Tie Fundraiser (Roanoke)

Hannah and Travis Teate who painted this beautiful picture of Hannah.  The picture raised $800 for CMN in the central and southwestern areas of Virginia.

Hannah joined a kindergarten class during a visit to some of the sponsors of her Eastern Shore trip.

Hannah was the keynote speaker at "Transparent Impact" on the Eastern Shore.  Over 350 youth attended the rally.  Three Christian rock bands from across Virginia also performed.

8 Rotary Leadership Seminar (Blacksburg)

Hannah was invited to speak at the Rotary Youth Seminar for high school juniors and seniors that was held at Virginia Tech.  She spoke on leadership and her message of encouraging young people to make healthy decisions.

Hannah visited Stone Middle School in Fairfax County to present her "Right Decisions, Right Now" presentation in which she has integrated the important anti-smoking message into her "Creating Healthy Choices for Teens" platform.  Her presentation was taped in front of a studio audience and it will be broadcast to the entire school.  She also met with Stone's afterschool "Girls Club".

15~16 Christmas Shows to Benefit Operation Smile (Newport News)
 
 
Hannah participated in four Christmas shows to raise money for Operation Smile.  Each year, the shows raise close to $15,000 for this wonderful cause.  Special thanks to Linda Haas, Director of Miss Virginia's Outstanding Teen and Preteen, who invited Hannah to be a part of this effort. 20 Operation Santa at the Naval Medical Center (Norfolk)
 
Hannah is the first Miss Virginia to participate in the Portsmouth Naval Medical Center's "Operation Santa".  She was joined by several of our local titleholders for a morning filled with presents and candy for the young patients.
