Caressa woke up bright and early Sunday morning to appear on Channel 7's morning news.  She returned to the hotel to find Roanoke firefighters assisting with the elevator issue on move out day!

Caressa enjoyed Miss Virginia's annual first appearance at the Stanley Homecoming where she rode in the parade, sang the National Anthem, and visited with the residents of Page County.

8 Visit to Kluge Children's Rehabilitation Center at UVA (Charlottesville)

Caressa visited KCRC, one of Virginia's children's hospitals affiliated with the Children's Miracle Network.

    

12~16 Miss America's Outstanding Teen (Orlando)

Caressa is excited to be in Orlando to support Miss Virginia's Outstanding Teen and to meet the other 52 state titleholders.  She is pictured with Art McMaster, President and Chief Executive Officer of Miss America, and some members of the MVOT delegation.

 

    

19~20 PSA Filming with the US Navy and VA ABC (Norfolk)

Caressa filmed a series of public service announcements for a joint project between the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control and the U.S. Navy. The PSAs are aimed at curbing drinking and driving.  During some down time, she visited with tropps stationed in the Tidewater area.

Children First/SUDIA (Harrisonburg)
 
Caressa represented Miss Virginia sponsor SUDIA at "Children First" at Eastern Mennonite University.  SUDIA stands for Southeastern United Dairy Industry Association and represents the dairy farmers in Virginia and across the country.
12 Make-A-Wish "Evening of Dreams" Gala (Johnson City, TN)
 

Caressa was a guest of The Encounter and Chrysalis, two Miss Virginia sponsors at a fundraising event for the Make-A-Wish foundation.

14 UVA Ryan White HIV Clinic Benefit (Charlottesville)
Caressa was invited to a dinner at Orzo in Charlottesville to raise money for the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Clinic at the UVA Hospital.  The event took in over $7,000 and Shawn Decker, husband of Gwenn Barringer, former Miss Virginia contestant, was the guest speaker.

26 Alison Kinsey's 13th Birthday Party (Glen Allen)

Caressa was the surprise special guest at Alison Kinsey's 13th birthday celebration!  Alison's mother, Stephanie, is very involved in the Miss Greater Richmond Pageant and Alison is a true Miss Virginia fan.  Happy Birthday Alison!

    

29 Sinai Elementary School (Halifax)
 
Caressa kicked off the 2009-2010 school year at Sinai School.  She spent the day presenting certificates to students of the month and speaking to the students about character traits.  She was the guest speaker for their program addressing six pillars of character and the no bullying rule.  A special thanks to Principal Mike Wilborne for welcoming our 7th Miss Virginia to Sinai.

Caressa was invited to participate in the Salvation Army's Candlelight Ceremony to honor victims of domestic violence.  She sang a number of selections, including "You'll Never Walk Alone".
 

23 WalMart Miracle Challenge for CMN (Radford)
 
Caressa was the celebrity guest at this event to raise money for CMN.  She is pictured with one of the fundraisers.

Caressa was invited BACK to Thornburg Middle where she spoke in early October so that more students could here her message.

7 Holiday Fashion Show and Luncheon (South Hill)
 
Caressa was a special guest at an annual fashion show sponsored by Ju'Lee's and Brian Steakhouse in South Hill.  Caressa is pictured with Julie, Brian, and some of the models.  Caressa entertained during the event and signed autographs at the conclusion of the event.

Caressa visited Dinwiddie High School where she spoke and sang.  She also met Miss Dinwiddie High School.

A big thanks to one of our local Executive Directors, JT Foley, for coordinating Caressa's visit to Benjamin Franklin in Franklin County.  She is pictured with Brenda Muse, Principal.

Caressa was invited to Lee Hill to be a part of the SCA Installation Ceremony.  She is pictured with the administration, Blake, the new President, and the officers.
  

 

29 World AIDS Day Service (Lynchburg)

Caressa spent the afternoon in Lynchburg at the invitation of Centra Health.  She spoke with young girls and then took part in a church service to launch a week-long series of events in Central Virginia.
 

December 2009

1 GMU World AIDS Day (Fairfax)

Caressa was invited to be a part of George Mason University's World AIDS Day commemoration.  She is pictured with Professor Gary Kreps and his wife and with AIDS activists Hydeia Broadbent and Big Tigger, from WPGC-FM.  GMU hosted one of the largest exhibits of the AIDS quilt, pictured in the background.

Caressa was honored to be invited to serve as the Grand Marshall at the South Hill Parade in her mother's hometown.  Following the parade, Caressa signed autographs at Peebles Department Store.
 
 

12 Rotary Youth Leadership Conference (Blacksburg)

Caressa spoke on the subject of leadership at this annual conference of Virginia's student leaders at Virginia Tech.  She enjoyed visiting with the students and continuing the tradition of this annual speaking engagement by Miss Virginia.
